''Bye, Professor Oglevee!'': Other love interests who deserved Nikki Parker more than Stanley

CBS Television Distribution

"Hey, Professor Oglevee!" was something Nikki Parker said more often than her famous "big mama beat down" catchphrase on The Parkers. As a mom and student at Santa Monica College, Nikki was obsessed with the professor and ready to fight any woman who showed interest in him.

It wasn't until the last episode that Stanley realized Nikki was the woman he wanted. Yet, like many fans, we think he didn't deserve her. To put it in words today's generation loves, Stanley "played in her face" too many times. Here are other love interests who deserved the love Nikki gave Oglevee.

Johnnie (the man she should've married)

Real The Parkers fans get annoyed thinking about the series finale because Professor Oglevee professed his love for Nikki on her wedding day. Johnnie knew Nikki was the love of his life, and it didn't take years of her running after him for him to see that.

When he proposed, this was supposed to be her happily ever after.

Mel Parker

Mel is Nikki's ex-husband and Kim's dad. In later seasons, he got engaged to a younger woman. However, he and Nikki rekindled their flame in the season one episode "Funny, Funny Valentine."

Kevin

In the season one episode "Three's A Shag," a younger guy named Kevin wants Nikki's attention, but she does not want to be a cougar. At the end, she gives him a chance, but viewers hear nothing about him for the rest of the series.

We're not saying Nikki should have dated someone much younger, but he deserved a chance over the Professor.

Cliff Rodgers

Season one of The Parkers showed Nikki with options, though they were not always the best match. In the episode "Betting on Love," an old fling named Cliff Rodgers comes to town with the same gambling mindset that ended his and Nikki's relationship.

He loved her but seemed to love gambling more. Cliff cared for Nikki more than the Professor did, though.

Kenny Davis

In season two, a guy named Kenny Davis, who loved competing with the Professor, noticed Nikki was obsessed with his rival. This meant he needed to get her first. Their encounters are a game for Kenny, but when Nikki catches feelings, the Professor tells her the truth.

Kenny realized he liked her and did all he could to get her back. Things were going well until a scammer posing as a therapist convinced Stanley he loved Nikki. This made Nikki end things with Kenny.

Then, after seeing his "therapist" in jail, the Professor goes back to treating her like garbage.
