Gerald Levert made a guest star appearance as T's dad on The Parkers

CBS Television Distribution

Freestyle Unity had an honorary member in season five, but it wasn't an honor for the original members to have him. In the episode "I Never Rapped for My Father," T's father comes into town and ends up with one mission: to make music with his son. This may seem like a cute "aww" moment, but the episode quickly turns into an overbearing parent trying to take control of his son's group.

Thad Radcliffe was a well-known musician in the fictional world of The Parkers. "Before we get it poppin' up in here, I'd like to introduce a special guest to the audience," T says on stage at Andell's bar. "He was a lead singer of The Sensations, and he's also my dad. Please give a warm welcome to Mr. Thad Radcliffe."

The crowd erupts in applause, which makes Radcliffe beam (we guess you can say he lives for the applause. Get it? It's a Lady Gaga song reference). T wants his dad to join Freestyle Unity for a special performance of one of The Sensation's hit songs, and after being hesitant, Thad joins them.

This moment was supposed to be a "special, one-night-only " appreciation gesture, but it launched the thought of Thad joining Freestyle Unity into his mind.

"Last night was great, but that's only the beginning, son. I brought over some sheet music with the songs I want to add to our act," he said as he interrupted Freestyle Unity's rehearsal. Not having the heart to tell his father that he misunderstood last night's performance, T goes along with it until Kim and Stevie had enough.

They eventually work things out, but the episode is hilarious, and guest stars R&B sensation Gerald Levert.
