Kyla Pratt shared her thoughts on the final season of One on One

CBS Television Distribution

Witnessing the transformation of child stars into adults is such a privilege. Those tiny voices are now powerful and ready to take on the world. Kyla Pratt has been in show business since 1993, acting in shows like The Parkers, Moesha, Living Single, and dozens more. She has also appeared on the big screen in movies like The Babysitters Club, Love & Basketball, Dr. Dolittle, Fat Albert, and more.

Pratt is mainly known for her roles as Penny Proud in The Proud Family and Breanna Barnes in One on One. Her first non-voice acting main role was Barnes, the daughter of sportscaster Flex Washington (played by Flex Alexander). The series followed their journey until its fifth season, when Breanna went to college.

During her time in Los Angeles with her boyfriend Arnez, Pratt's character Breanna Barnes experienced a significant shift in her social circle. Her best friend Spirit, her Godfather Duane, and her dad were no longer part of the show. Instead, the audience was introduced to a new set of characters—Breanna's roommates.

D-Mack, Sarah, Lisa, and Cash were added, and they were the broke roommates living the Hollywood dream—in other words, faking it till they made it.

Kyla Pratt talked about the final season during an interview with Blavity in 2021. "It was kinda awkward because the family I had developed over the past four years was no longer there," she said.

"…I know that it had been done on shows before…so I was just trying to go with the flow with it, and the cast we did bring in were all sweet people, all talented people, so I'm like, okay, let's see how this goes…I was put in an awkward position without knowing I was put in an awkward position…I used to try to sit back and imagine what it would have been like if they had kept it the same."
