Queen Latifah said the cast of Living Single has a group chat

Living Single was the kind of show that you wish was your reality. Khadijah James, Maxine Shaw, Regine Hunter, Synclaire James-Jones, Overton Wakefield Jones, and Kyle Barker were each successful individuals making money, having fun, looking for love, and causing problems. Their fictional friend group felt so real that you'd think that's what your adult friendships would be like watching the series as a child or teen. The characters may be fictional, but the cast's love and connection with each other rolled over into real life.
During an interview with Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifah, who played Khadijah James, the stylish journalist and publisher of FLAVA Magazine, talked about the show's impact.
"We did something that wasn't on TV, and it was so much fun. Yeah, like a bunch of kids found it during COVID and after that now it’s on HBO. I mean, like what are we doing on HBO? I was like, 'Wait a minute. Game of Thrones and Living Single?'" she said, laughing. It's true; Living Single created a television space that allowed audiences to see a group of successful Black friends simply living life. The show kept it real in a hilarious way.
Barrymore asked if she'd do a Living Single reboot, and Latifah said she would, revealing that the cast has a group chat. "I would do anything with the cast of Living Single. We're [in] a group chat to this day and the group chat is the show. We crack so many jokes on there and talk so much smack, and Erika is just so funny."
