For Brandy, that person was the amazingly talented Whitney Houston. You can just imagine the singer's reaction when she found out she'd be a princess, and Houston would play her Fairy Godmother.
It was 1997, a time when the sight of Black princesses on television was a rarity. Then came Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, produced by Walt Disney Television. The role of Cinderella was initially for Houston, but as the years went on, she and the producers thought she'd be best as the Fairy Godmother. Then the question, "Who is going to play the princess?" came along, and Houston had a special someone in mind.
