NBA Players took over this Jamie Foxx Show episode

Warner Bros.

Who said athletes are horrible actors? While some aren't the best (at least they're venturing into other careers), a few capture audiences' attention on screen. When National Basketball Association (NBA) players aren't shooting threes on the court or treating the tunnel as their fashion runway, they're gracing our television screens — especially ones in the '90s.

In the Jamie Foxx Show episode "We Got No Game," Jamie takes on the challenge of coaching a children's basketball team. And let's just say they aren't the '96 Chicago Bulls! "How's my little dream team doing?" Uncle Junior asks as the children enter the King's Tower. "Still dreaming about a win," Nelson responds. Jamie said they lost by 10 this time, which was progress.

Nelson also added that maybe if the coaching weren't so bad, they'd win a game, which was a jab at Jamie's poor coaching skills. Fast forward to one of their games, the children prepare to go against the Baldwin Hills Big Ballers coached by NBA star Gary Payton. Of course, Jamie's team was defeated, but it was a close game (they lost by one point).

As he cheers up his crew for having a good match, Gary Payton yells at his group for making "too many mistakes" even after winning. Jamie tells him he's too hard on the kids and needs to focus on the coaching mistakes. This doesn't sit well with Payton, who tells Jaime, "Since you poppin' all at the mouth, let's play a lil' two-on-two. That is if you ain't too scared."

Jamie's team accepts the challenge on his behalf, and he searches for an NBA superstar to help him. First, he parodies Scotty Pippen on the phone to connect with Michael Jordan, which doesn't work. Then, he asks Cherise to contact Kobe Bryant.

Gary Payton brings fellow NBA superstar Vin Baker, and Cherise, who couldn't get Kobe Bryant, got Shareef Abdur-Rahim to be Jamie's teammate. In the end, Jamie miraculously wins (after the ball bounces off his head and into the net).
