When William first started dating Monica, his friends (Toni, Lynn, Joan and Maya) all thought she was a gold digger (she was but grew up wealthy). The women did everything they could to show him she wasn't the one. Monica came between his friendship with the women several times, including getting him to choose hosting a party for his bosses over being Santa for Maya's son, Jabari.
