Kyla Pratt was acting in One on One and voicing her Proud Family character at the same time

Many of us have been working since we were teenagers. We're taught at an early age that money doesn't grow on trees (despite it literally being paper made from...trees.) We have to work for it, and that's exactly what Kyla Pratt did as a teenager in the early 2000s.

On September 3, 2001, Pratt, who'd been acting in classic shows and movies since early childhood, debuted as Breanna Barnes on One on One. The character was half of a father-daughter duo led by Flex Alexander, who played Flex Washington, Breanna's father.

Just 12 days later, the debut episode of Disney's The Proud Family aired on September 15, 2001. Kyla Pratt voiced the main character, Penny Proud. The then-teenaged actress was filming episodes of One on One while recording for new episodes of The Proud Family simultaneously.

Being on two shows was a lot of work, but it was something Pratt was used to. "To me, it was normal," she said in an interview with Pop Sugar in 2021. "I started in this business when I was 8, and all I had ever known was work. The fact that I was able to do a cartoon and a TV show at the same time didn't even register as a lot to me."

You'd think it would be challenging to have a normal teen life (like going out with friends) while being that busy, but Pratt didn't find it an issue.

"It was like, 'Oh, I'm doing One on One this week. Oh, we're off next week? OK, I'm going to do a couple of episodes of Proud Family. Oh, I'm off from that? I'm going to go hang out with my friends.' It was a normal situation for me. I didn't realize back then how amazing that is. But looking back at it now, that's a lot!"
