Tracee Ellis Ross doesn't think a Girlfriends reunion will happen: ''The ship has sailed.''
As fans of Girlfriends, we've all had a glimmer of hope that we'd see Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Brooks, Persia White, Jill Marie Jones, and Reggie Hayes back on our TV screens as Joan, Maya, Lynn, Toni, and William. However, according to Tracee Ellis Ross, that ship has sailed.
During an interview with VIBE in March, Ross made it clear that fans should let the thought of a reboot or made-for-TV movie go. Instead, they can continue to hold the series deep in their hearts (and watch reruns).
"The cast has always wanted to do it, but I'll be honest with you, the ship has sailed. I don't think it's ever going to happen. I think it would be a miracle," she said.
Ross and her castmates are still close, as she revealed they text "all the time," and they pushed for the reunion to happen, but the powers that be aren't interested.
"We have a thread of me and the girls and we text all the time; we talk about it, but I think we're all at different places in our lives and our careers now. I think there was a point 10 years ago when they came on 'Black-ish' and we were all game, but we couldn't get the powers that be to get on board."
The actress and fashion mogul added, "We've tried numerous times as a cast to make it happen, but unfortunately, we don't own the rights to the show. We are not the producers. We are not Mara Brock Akil, CBS Paramount, or whoever the people are that own the show. Golden [Brooks], Persia, Jill [Marie Jones], Reggie [Hayes], and I have been game; we've all talked about it—but I genuinely don't think it's ever going to happen at this point."
